Absorption panels between spealers - yes or no?

I want to place some basotect absorption panels in my room. i see everywhere in pics, youtube videos, etc. that people put panels on the front wall, between the speakers. But when I asked some people they say it's bullshit 'cause there are no reflections. So what do you guys think? My speakers stand roughly 10feet apart from one another (and I'm the same space apart from it of course) and about 20inch away from the front wall. So what's would you say? :scratch2:

Just made a quick drawing and converted the meters to feet (hope I was successfully). Couldn't take the measurements of all stuff, but I've drawn it close to perfect. Speakers are Technics SB-X5. The furniture has be placed this way - I don't believe in this Feng Shui stuff, but strangle I cannot sleep when the bed is placed otherwise. The walls are blank, I haven't decided for any shelfs, etc. yet, but I know it won't be any big stuff. and maybe some plants and the rear wall next to the couch but I'm not sure yet. Althrough the speakers are even bass reflex, I don't feel too big bass problems, but I have a harsh flatter echo (which was even there when I still had a big shelf and a showcase on the wall).

I would add two more Border Collies, one in front of the sideboard and one in the corresponding location in front of the window

More seriously, I'd consider absorption on either side of the TV, in the corners behind the speakers, and perhaps above the sideboard. Assuming you've got curtains on the windows, if they're drawn, that should provide some absorption. Diffusing panels on the wall behind the sofa would also be useful.

Some people have also recommended to put the Border Collie in the Corner as a bass trap .

So absorption left and right from the TV but not centered in die middle?

Is it ok to put absorption above the sideboard when I obviously can't do the same on the other side due to the windows? Because I'm not sure if even the best curtains can provide an absorption as good as basotect and so I worry about the symmetry.

Most importantly how thick should the absorption panels be? Is 50mm (1.9685039370100001 inch) the one I should take or is 30cm (1.181102362206 inch) enough?

If the placement of the TV allows, some absorption centered would also be useful. Hard to say about symmetry - the only real answer is to try it and see, unfortunately. But with different kinds of surfaces and furniture, you don't really have symmetry now with the side walls.
