Accessing pots on SX-828 for Deoxit

Has anyone cleaned the pots on an SX-828 lately? Is there an easy way to get at them without having to mess with the whole dial/string/etc? Can the board (tone board?) beneath them be easily moved out of the way? Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Only way I know of to gain complete access to the pots and switches, is to remove the knobs on the front, remove the front fascia panel, remove the bottom. Most all of the pot's and switches are on the AF UNIT which has to come out enough to gain access to them. Undo the nuts and screws on the front sub panel holding the pots and switches to it. Loosen the wiring to the board from the wiring looms (DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES UNWRAP ANY WIRES FROM PINS.) to gain some slack for moving the board. Move the board toward the back of the unit and flip up to gain access to the pots and switches.

No need to mess with the dial/string/etc. The sub panel stays secure to the frame.

Thanks for the info, Larry. I ended up watching a Youtube video of someone working on a different model Pioneer receiver, but it was pretty much the same procedure. So I did have to remove what I guess is the tone control board--or at least pull it out a bit to gain access to all the pots and switches. Major improvement--I actually have sound now! But it looks like I might also have the dreaded low filter popping problem, i.e., a fairly loud pop when turning the switch off. Searches here recommend some recapping (haven't really explored that yet in any detail). Still trying to figure out how to check/set bias and DC. It isn't explained in the service manual.
