Accuphase E-212 - conversion from 100V Japan voltage to 120V US voltage

Just completed this conversion this evening. Easy peasy!

Just swapping around a few wires, just like in the video.
No more stupid step-down transformer

Back in business with the Accuphase. What a beautiful amp!

This video is for the P-300 but the wiring is the same for my E-212 as confirmed by the service manual.

Where did you get a service manual? HiFiEngine.com doesn't have them.

I'm curious about conversions to 240V, particularly from a Japanese unit. Looks like it wouldn't work on your unit and I suspect on most. The more modern units don't have the transformer connections so clearly marked from the photos I've seen. That would limit me to UK or Europe markets.

I'd use a correct step-up transformer for a low current unit like a pre-amp if I got a great deal on the pre-amp but not for an integrated or power amp. Doesn't seem right and I don't trust the consumer-grade products. Plus I've already burnt up a couple of components from using the wrong plug in the wrong socket - that's why they took away my screwdriver at work.

I'm used to playing with these puppies. Stand under the 500 kV lines and the hair on your arms and on the back of your neck stands on end.

For 240VAC use, tie GRAY and YELLOW together, AC input is now ORANGE and WHITE. Basically putting both 120VAC windings in series for 240VAC.

Just saw this, don't recall where I got the service manual, I believe someone here on AK pointed out there was one online and I just Googled it. Let me know if you have a need for an E-212 service manual though, I've got one! So glad to be rid of that unsightly step-down transformer LOL (120V to 100V). Still really enjoying the heck out of my Accuphase. I don't foresee ever getting rid of it. I've got nearly $2k into it between the amp and the DAC-10 card but I feel it's worth every penny for an attractive, single-box solution that is built like a tank and has respectable power output. We'll see, maybe someday I'll have to try out some separates again but right now I'm focused on other things besides audio.
