Acoustic Research AR-2A

Hey guys I have the opportunity to buy a pair of acoustic research AR-2a. What do you guys think about this model in particular?
I can buy them for 200$ cad. The only thing that I am not sure to fully understand is that there is one speaker that is AS-2a and there is a regular AR-2a. According to what I read, the AS-2a was a kit exactly like the AR-2a made by heathkit I think. If you guys know something about the kit or anything let me know

yeah you are right I just looked closely and it’s one regular AR-2 the other one is a AS-2a

You could make them the same, but it wouldn't be cheap or (IMO) worth the effort.

definitely, for a mismatched pair and one not even being AR. Have you listened to them? You have to take into consideration the pots probably need rebuilding, needs new crossover caps. The tweeters may be bad, possibly new woofer foam - just food for thought before taking the plunge

the AR-2, 2a, even 2ax are pretty readily available for that price range.

I would wait for a matching set, they will need redoping and recapping.
