Acoustic Research AR XA turntable fair price

Hi Everybody,
I've got a chance to pick up an Acoustic Research turntable for $160. I love the simple, minimalist design of AR stuff, and I know the XA was their original tt, but how well-regarded are these, and does $160 sound about right? Comes with an older Stanton cart I can't quite make out. Thanks for any input!

Some people really like them and spend thousands tweaking them. Personally I think they're pretty meh.
$160 is on the high side but not outrageous. I got like $120 for mine and it was in really nice shape, freshly cleaned/lubed, and with a nice un-cracked dust cover. But the Boston audio market is super cheap, so YMMV.

@RossW wasn't kidding about the amounts people spend tweaking them.

Type in "AR Turntable" and you'll finds tons of threads, odes, etc on these.

Quite popular on the big auction site should be plenty of completed listings to give you a better idea of what they are selling for.
