Acoustic Research AR58s optimal ohms

I am having a Fisher 500b restored. Once complete, I will be playing it through my Acoustic Research AR58s speakers. The speakers aren’t marked and I haven’t been able to find their ohm rating. Since the 500b can connect to 4, 6, and 8 ohms, what would be the optimal pairing for these speakers? Sorry if I should have used the term impedance. TIA.

Agreed. I'm not familiar with the 500b but keep an eye out for signs of being over driven. The 58s can get current hungry depending on program material & listening level. As low as 3.3 ohms if i recall correctly.

Thank you. I will let my tech know. Maybe he can make some part upgrade recommendations to prevent this.

4, 8, 16 ?
Try 4 and 8, it won't hurt the amp or the speakers and sometimes the speakers will sound quite a bit better on one or the other, only one way to find out.
If this were posted in the tube forum you would get more of the same, try both 4 and 8.

Close, but not quite. The AR58B speakers used a paper cone midrange, where the AR58S had a 1.5" dome midrange. Still, frequency responses were most likely very similar.

Also, a fellow AK member created the AR specs site. It has specs for all the early AR speakers.

Thanks for pointing out my mistake and good call posting the aphenos link which is a great resource
