Acoustic Sounds, Analogue Productions, Quality Record Pressings

This might be of interest here?
A little blast from AP's past. I can't seem to pinpoint a year of release, but it appears to be from the mid to later 90's(?).
I called AS about it, but their database did not show any info from this earlier series.
The amount of detail on the rear cover I find impressive.

Willie, I own this particular release and it sucks big time.
I still can't figure the reason why they messed it up.

They made an excellent job on side A, while ruining the whole thing by leaving all of B side in 'glorious' mono.

The normal releases were Stereo on both sides.
At least the other couple I've got.

If I knew it, I 'd fork the same amount of money i did for this flop, for a proper US first pressing.
But I thought, what the heck?
These guys must know their game.
Not anymore...

I don't know mate..
I'm totally disillusioned about the whole 'hi-end' remasters after that.

Do you actually own this pressing yourself?
It is a decent album by Albert. I wonder if there are copies of the same pressing that do not have the defect. But I know at least another one, owned by a friend of mine that has the exact same mono B side.

Yes, I own it. It is not a defect, it states in the credits that mono tapes were used for sd 2...original mono master tapes. and sd 1 uses a first gen copy tape. It's right there in my pic.
Perhaps the sd 2 stereo tapes were bad?
I don't think it sounds bad at all, but I consider it a placeholder until I can locate a vintage press.
Most times I prefer the initial masterings to the reissues.

Ohh my..
You are absolutely correct.
I never did read the small print on the back. It is written that B side is mastered from a mono tape.
I thought that somebody knocked the mono switch over, while reaching for an ashtray or something. :dunno:

But seriously, I just didn't expect them to choose to differentiate from the original pressing on purpose. Unless that first US pressing is also B-side mono.
My two reissues are both sides stereo though.

And I agree totally with you. First masterings are almost always safer bets in terms of audio quality.

To be fair, side A of this particular 'hi-end' re-issue does sound pretty good.
At least It sounds better than my two other reissues.
But Side B, is a buzzkill for me...

Anyway, thanks for mentioning that.
It partly solved that puzzle.
But I still can't figure out why they would go mono on B side.

Maybe a tape condition issue?
