Acquired a pair of Klipsch KG1 bookshelves- seeking woofer replacement recommendations and other advice.

Hello! Been awhile for me posting here.

I bought a pair of KG1s for cheap. One has a shredded woofer (I am feeling those we’re not the original woofers):



Can anyone recommend a good 6.5” replacement?

One of the grilles is missing, so I am thinking I can fabricate one that matches out of 1/2” MDF. Anyone know of a place I can get these things?:




Please share any wisdom you have on these speakers! How are the caps?

Finally, and I will Google this too, but how to fix this smooshed cone in the tweeters?

The original woofer that came with the KG1 was the Klipsch K-1-K. I found one so far on eBay.

Looks like a lot to sort.
Are you sure these speakers are worth your time?

Try masking tape to pull out tweeter. I’ve done a few of them. Just found some kg.5’s, I may also be looking for k-1-k….

Not sure, really. From what I’ve read, they were good speakers. Currently seeing pairs on eBay for $274 - 500. I don’t really have a place to put them or a need, but…
I do want to hear what they sound like and I enjoy projects like this. As long as I’m not spending an inordinate amount on the woofers, I see this as a win. Especially considering I paid $22 for the speakers and a Pioneer SX-780 from circa 1978.
