Sooooo . . . had a crazy thought:
what if I replaced my KLH Model Six woofers, with a pair of KLH Model 5 woofers? Same or VERY similar enclosure volume, Model 5 motor/magnet nearly double the size, (increased lower energy & power handling?)
Buttoned everything back up and listening to Classical on NPR - they sound very nice - more listening is required
