Lately there is a Musical Concept modified Hafler DH-220 near me that I am interested. Honestly I have never tried a modified amp in my system. Also, I have never needed service to any amps I had in my system. So my question is, would there be a sonic difference specifically between a Acurus A150 and the modified DH-220?

I did have a Hafler DH-200 in stock form in the beginning of my hobby journey. Is was my first attempt to separates and was quite good.

Depending on how much upgraded the Hafler is, that would be my choice. Not something you can recoup the upgrade cost to build but based on what I have read a very good amplifier. Less power than the Acurus, though.

The Acurus is an entry level high end amp with the Aragon sounding better and the Hafler fully upgraded is supposed to be a top contender.

Be interesting to hear these two against a known original Hafler and a true high end amp.

Thanks for the response. I don't know if it was fully upgrade but the obvious was upgraded like to a torodial transformer, PS caps, and some caps. The boards seems to be original.
