Just had an Acurus ACT-3 Preamp come across my bench with a problem that took me a bit too long to figure out to I figured I would share.
Remote wouldn't power the unit on or off after synced, it also wouldn't adjust volume. The dead giveaway should have been the volume pot physically wouldn't lower either when turned.
I had to remove the volume pot, disassemble it and scrape away parts of the oxidation in the pot (it was bad!). Gave it a little blast of deox and all is back to normal.
Hope maybe this helps someone in the future.
I am posting this because I often overlook a bad pot to be the culprit with a unit this new, hopefully some frustrated tech googles this and it helps them.
