I was listening to my newly recapped (among other electronic components) Marantz 1060, and I was shocked at how great it sounded. I kept switching between it and another amp. The bass was kickin'! It didn't matter what volume I was listening at.
I couldn't figure out what was happening, then it dawned on me. This little devil has a loudness button (which I just leave on) that's tied to the volume knob. When I turn down the volume, the bass gets more emphasized, just right I might add. If you ask me, it's the reason why people love this amplifier. It's the bass, stoopid! When I disengage the loudness button, it become just another ho-hum amp (not really). It sounds just like all my other amps low listening levels - no bass.
Man, if you ask me, all integrated amps and preamps need this feature.
I'm gonna post pics and talk about my 1060 over that the Marantz thread soon.
