Adcom GFA-545 II & GTP 500 II

I just got handed the GFA-545 II & GTP-500II. They are basically flawless. Right know they are driving Klipsch Chorus IIs.

If I decide to consolidate, what would be a nice integrated amp that would be a slight upgrade to the Adcom separates?

That's a pretty vague question Herb, not meaning to "bust your chops" but what are you looking for in an upgrade?

The 545 is reasonably powerful, very good at difficult to drive speakers down to (and below) 4ohms, fast and accurate, and in general a well regarded amp in its price range.

The GTP 500 is also very good.

So in an upgrade, are you looking for better quality, more power, or just an integrated? Vintage, used or new? What's the budget? How much power do you need and what inputs?
 
You’re not bustin my chops. I was incredibly vague. Sorry. I got carried away with getting the new gear. l am quickly realizing that my space and current uses probably dictate AVRs. I don’t have a dedicated listening space for just audio only gear; especially not giant speakers. So, I’m a dork

No problem! But I will say - and I would guess a lot of other AK members would agree with me on this - you're going to have to spend a fair amount of money to find an AVR that will top that Adcom gear when it comes to pure audio sound quality.
 
Maybe a GFP-565, which is a pre only; you would lose the tuner of the 500...

I think what you have is a nice combo!
 
What you have is going to be hard to top but easy to flip......

Perhaps use the funds to find an Adcom AV pre and multi channel amp, keep the power & fidelity and satisfy your space and HT needs
 
If your wanting to consolidate and have the same or better sound quality then those adcom Seperates then your looking at getting a Totl Uber receiver like the Yamaha RXZ-1 Z-9 RXV-1 DSP-1, Onkyo TX-NR1000, B&K 507s2 307 507 to name a few, I have owned them all except the RXV-1 and DSP-1 and they all can hold there own against many Seperates however some of those are still well above your $300 limit. Some can be had at your price point though.

No, no. "Slight upgrade" is like "jumbo shrimp". Catchy but makes no sense, lol.

If you don't need video switching or the latest decoders, TOTL AVR's are fantastic value and sound great. For example, my 2007 Denon AVR-4603 had a street price of $4,000 but can be had for $200-300 on ebay. Lower line models are an even better value because even less people want them.
