My living room system is flanked by 5 speakers on each side (The Great Wall of Yard Sale Sound). My computer table is in the center, beside the sound system. I have been using this setup for some time now, switching between speaker with the A/B selector, with 4 sets hooked to B via an impedance-matching switch box. I have been quite happy with the sound while working at the computer, but sometimes I find that I want to get up to go sit in a chair across the room to enjoy a song.
It finally dawned on me to hook a pair set of near-field speakers, pointed directly at me when I am sitting at the computer. So I swapped out one pair of speakers on the switch box for my seldom-used Minimus 7s.
Perched on top the nearest stack of speakers, these these two little speakers make a world of difference, much better imaging and far more definition in the high frequencies.
They pair well with the Wharfedale W60Es on which they sit, and which do a good job of filling in the low frequencies.
I learn something every day.
