Citizen Gain
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Hey!
I just bought myself an MC2505 power amp. It is in INCREDIBLE condition. Not a scratch on the thing. Plus (most importantly) it sounds amazing.
The power cable, however, is very stiff from being coiled. Should it be replaced? I have an IEC connector here, still in the package just waiting to be mounted to the chasis of some device.
I can't imagine it'd be too difficult to install on the 2505. + and - are self-explanatory, and connect the ground to the interior casing. Put the thing right where the existing rat-tail cord comes out, re-shaping the hole in the chrome with a dremel.
Is this a good idea? Would it affect the value?
Would it be better, perhaps, to simply replace the built-in cord with the same thing, only just newer? It would solve the stiff-cord issue, but it'd still be a modification, sort of deflowering the "all-original" status of the piece. I feel like having the opportunity to use an IEC cable of one's choosing would be a desired advantage.
What are your thoughts?
