Adding wood on the side of a black Pioneer receiver?

I have a black 2003 or something Pioneer VSX53TX that I got at a pawn for 40$ a while ago. Recently I saw someone on Reddit add wood sides to their black CD Deck and it looked marvelous. I want to know if y’all think it would look good on the receiver, how to go about it, what type of wood to use, how to go about actually sticking it on there, what color wood finish, etcetc…

Sure, why not. If your wood working skills are up to snuff. I assume the Pioneer is black, so maybe a darker color like black walnut or mahogany with a shiny clearcoat. Since your don't have a lot invested in the Pioneer, I would just glue the sides on with some construction adhesive if screwing them on isn't an option.
