Adding wooden case to 2270

Hello everyone, I'm new here and this is my first post. I just bought a 2270 and want to add a wooden case to it. I saw in another thread that the wooden case goes over the metal case. I haven't received the 2270 yet but wanted to know the process of adding the wooden case to it. Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm not a technical type of person. I love my music but was never into the DIY side of working on my own equipment. Thanks!

Take the feet off your existing 2270.
Gently slide the entire thing into the new wood case from the front.
You will need longer screws to attach your existing feet.

Sorry if this is a dumb question

Not dumb at all. Many people either mar the wood or the unit itself, sometimes even both.

I wil add to what Bob said about 'longer screws'...don't buy them TOO long as they may go too far into the 2270 chassis and do some internal damage.

Enjoy your 2270 and welcome to AK.

Place the receiver face down on a pillow, couch cushion or foam blocks then feed cord through before sliding the wood case over. http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/a-jig-to-install-wood-cases.721274/

Still can damage the front lip of the wood case though with the sharp corners of the faceplate. I’ve put blue painters tape on the front lip of the wood case to protect it during installation to avoid this. Can also tape over the screws on the bottom of the metal case to avoid scratching the inside of the wood case.

Another option is to take the faceplate off and slide the unit from the back of wood case. This avoids damaging the front of the wood case. However, the faceplate of course can be damaged/scratched if you’re not careful removing and replacing the screws and knobs.

Asking a friend to assist can come in handy.

A while back someone here posted photos of a jig he made for wooden case installation. Anyone reading this claim the fame to it? It was a really well thought out devise.

make sure you have the power cord pulled all the way through the back ive had it bunch up a couple of times with half stuck between the bottom and the case

Also, check out AK member Asaalah for Woden cabinets he makes. He is a real craftsman and the cases he makes are beautiful. I bought one and it is amazing.

To me the wooden case makes these units. This is a case I made for my 1060. Finish is Minwax stain and 7 coats of oil.

Second that Asaalah cases are spectacular. I've got a 2325 in one and Marantz should have made them so nice. I also have a 2230 in an original case and the case cost more and is not as nice. Beautiful bookcase matched cabinet sides. Mounting holes match up---all well done.
