Adhesive for 1/4" felt

Need adhesive recommendation for 1/4" felt on the front of a speaker baffle. Spray adhesive works well...but it works a bit too well. I'd like to use something that could easily be removed if I decide to take the speaker back to stock. The spray adhesive is a whip to scrub off after I peel off the test felt. Thoughts?

Use Permatex spray adhesive instead of 3M. Its not quite as sticky. Wipe down with a solvent (experiment, but mineral spirits should work) after peeling off felt and the residual adhesive with come off easily, and then you can sand down to bare wood to your heart's content.

I think a a different spray adhesive is the ticket. The 3M Hi-Strength 90 spray adhesive is serious stuff. If I wanted permanent, I'd go for this.

I tested the 3M General Purpose 45 spray adhesive and I think this will work nicely. If you spray the back of the felt, and let it set for a few minutes before applying, the adhesive will not transfer to the substrate (well, 99-ish %). The rest seems to be easily wiped away with a weak solvent.

I bought some contact cement to test, but the application process isn't as simple as the spray, so I declined the experiment.

Just had a thought about this: Have you considered hide glue?
I tune and repair pianos on the side, and I adhere all the action felts and leathers with a liquid hide glue I get from a specialty woodworking shop. It's pretty easy to work with, provides a good bond, and can be easily removed if/when needed. It's used in piano actions because the felts and leathers are wear items, so they need to be eventually replaced.

If your talking about elastic fabric sheer over a speaker frame. Good double sided cloth tape. This elastic fabric sheer can be found at linen shops. Comes in that avg. brown look. If not sure what I'm talking about.. because I don't flipping know what they call it, may hit your better half up for info or dare a womens dress shop?

It does stretch out fine.. same pattern of mounting a canvass or silk screen.

This is my suggestion as well. Hide glue, as far as I know, is the only reversible glue around.
