There's hope for you yet Russell
Shucks It’s been so long I forgot how to start a new thread , maybe I’m missing something … I saw quite a few inquires about various ADS speakers , saw the cool link to the ADS archives site ( thanks ) I was able to get some cool original MFG info on these 910's . My question is that I don’t see that anyone has a pair of these 910 beauties here on AK ? GOT 910’s ? I will pick up mint pair tomorrow from a new friend and was curious what people think generally of these speakers. Thanks AK Peoples : ) :thmbsp:

ADS L910s are some of the nicest sounding speakers...ever (IMHO). I have a pair and just love them.

i'm going to own a pair of ADS sometime... i really dropped the ball when they had that eBay auction of the 4 Braun/ADS L1030s this spring. i'm such an effin' cheapskate, i bid $5 too low at the last second and they sold for a measly $60!!!!! according to several people it was the ADS score of the year. those 910s look very...german :thmbsp:

Prices on these fluctuate wildly, but those dome mids never seem to go out of style.

Heard some 810's recently and the bass was super especially in a brick wall room, very full and deep.

cheers

Thanks guys I picked them up this am , they "look" mint , ( missing a badge however ) I will report back next week , I will hook them up tonight and give them a few days to settle in . I think I may have paid to much for them -no steals - ( 400 ) , but they came from a very good source , original owner , very detailed gent , thanks a bunch : )

$400 is a very good price for the speakers if they are good condition. They are an especially good deal considering their performance even at the higher prices they typically sell for. I own a pair and consider them the best sounding speaker I have used in my home and one of the best I have heard anywhere. I prefer them to my fathers Vandersteen 2CE Sigs and his previous Audio Physics Spark IIIs. Unfortunately they are not currently in use do to the size constraints of my current listening room. They sound very good with my 75 wpc Mac receiver but will really transform when given some juice. Tremendous realism with recordings.
Electric guitars have that bite you get live. Congrats on the purchase and hope you enjoy.

I really like mine and it is tough to beat their beatiful looks.

Just wondering if yours came with the stands?

And $400 is a steal for these btw and please post some pics.

Ok people …the verdict is in, after a huge scare upon hooking them up Friday night as both woofers on the left did not report and the midrange on the right the same. The woofers I took care of with a little squirt of de-ox on the 6 pin cable at the board, the mid does not work at all or so I thought.
After several hours of listening I noticed that the mid is actually playing however very faint at moderate listening levels (very moderate) , when turned up ( party/ show off listening level ) the mid works much better however not nearly the same as the other side .
Guys even with the mid not doing it’s job correctly they are AMAZING, they just took my AR9 and JBL'S spot in the lineup for (now) and for most music. I have about 20 listening hours now on them.
Pictures to follow and yes I do have the stands ( they look like robots when on stands) and the Bass response is 10 times better when on the stands just as I thought as I first had them on the carpet during hookup . Thanks all for the info y’all rock!

yes they did thanks and they are cool and the design is awsome in regard to how easy it is to get that big ol speaker up and onto them and by myself :thmbsp:
do you need stands ? these would be super easy to make and a template can be made from these ? let me know

I haven't even begun to place them correctly in the room as of yet however the sound stage blows away my AR9's as they sit right now.:tears:

You should pull both of those mids and bench test them to determine if the issue is with the drivers or the crossovers. Simply swapping them is also an easy way to test.

You might need to re-cap that crossover.

Glad to year you like them. I have plans on moving everything in my living room around so I may be able to improve the bass response in doing so.

I was currious as I had made an extra set of stands myself in my metal shop.

You did pay too much but I'll be happy to reimburse you for them. Just drop them off the next time you are driving through Sactown. :D

I've owned L1090's, L810's and still own L710's L420's and S700's and would love to get my hands on a nice pair of L910's. I check my local CL everyday hoping to find a pair. Congratulations and enjoy! :thmbsp:

And you're welcome on the ADS website.

good call on the stands , first thing that came to mind was how simple and effective the stands are , easy to take off and on and with one person:yes:

easy to make :scratch2:

I will swap the sides yes , why did I not think of that , thanks !
