ADS L-630 Maybe asking too much?

IMO, yes. By a lot. But if someone buys them, then that's just swell.

Based on the description they are a terrific set of speakers, but 1500 gives you a tremendous set of choices and the topic speaker would not make the cut.

The actual cost of most restoration projects, unless known to be high ticket and highly desirable market items, has to be discounted upon resale. Masking a profit, let alone recovering one's actual costs, can be difficult.

:eek2: Not even free shipping at that crazy price! Seller must be advertising services as they are clearly not trying to sell speakers.....

I have L630, L730, and L880's and don't really hear a huge difference in sound or prefer one over another (other than appearance). Even with the beautiful veneer they have added I still prefer the curved corners of the L730s and the angled corners of the L880s to the conventional square corners of the L630s. With L730s and L880 regularly available for one third the cost I suspect these won't sell at this price. I am now watching this auction to see if I should list my ugly but wonderful sounding L630s for $800... I also might convert my pair of L620s into functionally equivalent L630s by installing an L630 Mid and an L630 crossover...

Your ugly L630's will languish at 800.00 just like seller asking 1500.00 for restored ones... ALOT better speakers from ADS for way less money can be had!!!

1290's sold on ebay for 500.00
1530's sold on ebay for 700.00
730's sold on ebay for 275.00

THESE ARE REAL PRICES!!!

I was implying that IF there are people out there that would actually pay $1500 for pristine beautiful L630s, then I would consider asking an exorbitant amount for my stock L630s. I don't expect either to happen.

Have to admit, those are some sweet 630s with the fresh veneer. I wouldn't buy them but I admire the restoration work.

I see in the listing it says "Pro restoration by ‘speakercabrestorations’ (L.A.)". I wonder if the owners dropped off their speakers to get spiffed up and ended up spending more than they meant to on the restoration?
