I picked up a pair of these recently for $70. From what I have read these were made in ~1985 so I’m inclined to recap the xovers. Does anyone have a schematic for these? ADS is not listed in the AK database. I assume I’ll need to pull the woofers to access them. I found a hand drawn schematic for ADS that was created in 1982 so me thinks it predates the L470/2.
These are very good sounding speakers. They are paired with my Dynaco ST-35. Also using a sub. Very detailed and airy.
I’m not wild about the vinyl cabinets but I can get over their looks because of the sound quality. One cabinet has some scratches and a slightly dinged corner. Once I cleaned them up and used some furniture scratch mask, they look pretty good. The metal grills are in great condition.
Overall, I’m very pleased with this pick up. When I went to look at them, I was taken aback when I saw the corner ding. My wife was with me and she said, “If you don’t get them, you’ll regret it when we get home”. She was right.
