ads L520 vs L710?

The L520's I have are quite good, with surprisingly deep, punchy and quick bass and very clear highs. Very efficient, too -- I don't need to pump up the volume on my modest Marantz AV receiver which powers them. Also image well. Mine are 6 ohms, metal grills version, from I think 1982.

For those who've had both the L520's and L710's -- are the L710's a big improvement or just a different kind of sound? I imagine a fuller midrange on the L710's because of the dedicated midrange driver. Same exact cabinet size/dimensions for both:

L520: one 1" soft dome tweeter and one 8" stifflite woofer
L710: one 3/4" soft dome tweeter, one 2" soft dome midrange, and two 7" stifflite woofers.

I'm interested in hearing replies on this too. Love my ADS L520s and L420s. Both were cloth-grill units. Bought locally here for under $100 each pair so they were a remarkable deal. The only pairs I've ever seen for sale in Iowa...I've long craved a 3-way pair, but they seem to be "coastal" by nature...either U.S. west or east, but not central!
 
Although I've not owned the L-520's, I have heard a few, and have owned the L-710's (and regret selling them). The 710's are a huge improvement, over the 520's. Same signature sound, just much more of it.
 
I have a pair of L520 2's. They image well and sound pretty good in a small room. In a larger room I found the midbass down lacking though. I have them connected to a little 12wpc tube amp in a small room and they sound nice together. I don't think I could live with them as my main speakers though. Even with a sub.woofer added.
 
I always thought that the L520's kind of had a hole in the midrange. It's hard to explain, but something was missing. My L710's don't have anything missing. For such a small cabinet they have a big sound.
 
I have the L810’s and have listened to the L710’s many times. The 710’s are one of the best sounding most balanced small speakers I have heard. I would buy a pair if I could find them. My favorite bookshelf sized ADS speaker. Can’t compare to the 520’s though since I have never heard them.
