ADS L880 fuses

Danimal

Just a man...
I have a pair of ADS L880 speakers. There are no fuses in the holders for the mids or tweeters. Can anyone shed some light as to what fuses I need? I read online somewhere that they take a 2.5A for the mids and a 1.6A for the tweets. Can anyone confirm that? I went to my local hardware store and tried to find those fuses and could not find them. What are the equivalents? Is a 250v the same as a 2.5A??

Amps and volts are two different beasts. You should be able to find 1.5A and 2.5a 250v quick blow fuses at radioshack. 1.5a shouldn't color the sound any differently then the 1.6a would. Hope that helps!

The factory issued a supplement on the L770/L880 that mentions the 1.6A tweeter fuses being replaced by solid-state protection devices, i.e. a polyswitch which is probably on the crossover board. You might check that before putting in fuses, but if the tweeter is out now and the fuse makes it work I would assume it's the earlier version.

The difference between 1.5A and 1.6A is about 6%, meaning you would blow the fuse at about 94% of the level where the 1.6A fuse would blow. It's safe, but if you play them loud you may end up having to replace the fuses more often.

The correct 1.6A ones are readily available at places like Mouser, Digikey, etc.
