ADS speakers and their growing popularity in 2025

The older red-headed stepchild nobody probably wants to deal with anymore is Rectilinear. I felt they had a similar sound to ADS and I hold them in a similarly high regard -probably less articulate but with possibly better tone. I would put the German Braun/ADS company into the "East-Coast" acoustic suspension type of sound signature. The Rec's of course all need a crossover recap (or more) to sound their best at this point though -then again, who doesn't? Tossing those tired old cement resistors in favor of non-inductive wirewound types never hurt either.
 
I’ve had ADS L500’s, L780’s, L710’s. I liked them all. I have 2 pairs of L-810’s and I love them. One pair with cloth grills and one with metal grills. Both in excellent condition. I had the good fortune of restoring the finish on a friends L-910’s and they are amazing speakers. But I recently found a pair of Norman Labs Model 9’s. They are, to my ears, awesome! Floorstanding but not too intimidating.
 
I pulled out the L9E's last night, drove them with a pair of Fosi V3 monoblocks, they are definitely good, and really good in my 12x12 room. I have a pair of early Braun drivers L810's as well which sound great too, definitely more bottom end than the L9E but a little boomier/loose. I don't suspect these will be going anywhere anytime soon unless one of my kids gets a higher level of interest in the hobby.
 
I had a pair of 810s many years ago. I loved them but found the bass a bit too much for my small listening area. A friend offered me his 710s in excellent condition with metal grills and i didn’t think twice and grabbed them. They have been my main speakers ever since. I would want to hear how the 910s sound someday. But in the meantime, my 710s aren’t going anywhere. I love them.
 
I have a pair of L1230s driven with a pair of monoblock Schiit Aegir amps - my daily drivers. Just fantastic. Also have a pair of 520s which are superb 8” speakers.

I believe that the 1230 and 810 have the exact same complement of drivers. Not sure if cabinet volume is similar. Could be due to the 1230 wide baffle Boston-Acoustic-like tall skinny design.

The gentleman that I bought my 980s from is still running a set of 710s, he told me he had a friend rework the crossovers and I thought they sounded pretty good - not as good as the 980s that are now mine, but pretty good nonetheless.
