Advance Paris phono capacitance switch question

I recently picked up an Advance Paris A-12. I have a Denon DP-400 plugged into it. The A-12 has 2 switches on the backside by the phono out. One is to set the type of cartridge I'm using. I managed to figger out that the Ortofon Blue cartridge I'm using gets the switch set to MM. However, there is another switch for choosing the capacitance level. It's a 3-position switch labeled 100pf, 200pf and 320 pf. I can't detect any difference in sound between the 3 settings. So... what does changing the capacitance do? Which is the correct position for my system?

Thanks.

The switch sets the capacitance load that the cartridge sees and it affects the high frequency response of the cartridge. If you can't hear any difference, don't worry about it. You won't damage anything by using the "wrong" setting. Ortofon's recommendation for that cartridge is a load capacitance between 150pF and 300pF, but bear in mind that the tonearm cable alone will give you about 100pF of capacitance.
