Advent 1008 Loudspeaker worth finding woofers

I have a pair of Advent 1008 Loudspeakers, but someone had changed out the woofers. Ive seen a few on ebay, but wasn't sure if these Advents are worth fixing or what the going price was on them. I have a Marantz 2270 and want something small, but with a decent sound for my studio. I don't spend much time listing to vinyl in the studio…usually have mixes going on, but its nice to have the option.

I have a pair of the advent graduate speakers, I think they are the same drivers in a smaller cabinet. It is a nice little speaker, but I don't think that there is much market for it. I tried to sell the re-foamed set for $40 and found no interest. So if you put any money in yours, do so for the opportunity to enjoy them. I don't think that the original woofer (which I do have) is anything special. It works and like many advents likes power. I imagine that a replacement driver of the same sensitivity would probably work as well. I would say enjoy them as they are.

The small bookshelf speaker 'market' is pretty crowded with many good choices. I picked up a Klipsch RB25 pair for $35 - smaller woofer and a bigger sound. So, listen to what you have and slowly look for an alternative.

Thanks rmeade, I think thats the direction I plan to take. I guess ill keep on the look out for some decent speakers for this 2270

IMHO find a pair of early advent bookshelf speakers ( the ones with the "spit-ball" woofers) or a pair of EPI M50's also known as the "mite"
