Advent 2/w refoam issues

After being quite impressed by the advent baby IIs after their refoam, I was super excited to get home today and refoam my advent 2/w. Took the screws out and pulled like hell and I can’t get the woofers out. Looks like they were glued in? Was that a stock thing or did someone get to them before me? Is there a trick to removing them without marring/damaging the cabinet face?

Managed to pry them up with a spoon.
Looks like I need to replace some connectors and deal with some rust.
Potentially stupid question: is the coil supposed to be exposed and sticking out halfway past the spider?

Just realized that’s not the coil, just glue on the spider. Y’all can ignore me, ima keep answering my own questions.

I found cutting and splicing the surrounds to be terrifying for some reason. I was fully aware that if I ****ed them up I’d only be out $15-$20, but it was hard to get over the idea of destroying something that I just bought.

...are these original woofers? The pictures I’m finding online don’t have orange dust caps.

One done, one needs to be redone as it has some coil rub. Second speaker set in a row that has one refoam fail using the battery/feel method- it’s making me consider changing methods and using shims.
Anyhow, the one that doesn’t have rub:
Decent. Tight base, clear mids and highs that don’t make my ears bleed. Definitely clearer than the altec 886a that were doing shop duty.
Nothing special enough that I would seek them out if I didn’t already have them, but at this point after the mcs 8228 and ads l810 everything else is just icing on the cake from my $100 three pickup truck load of speakers score.
