Advent 3 tweeter questions

Hi everyone, I'm new to forum. I own a Pioneer SA 6500II and a pair of Advent 3 speakers that my father bought in the early 80s. I really like how both sound and have decided to restore both.
I have ordered replacement polypropylene caps for the advent's crossovers but I'm not sure whether I should replace the tweeters as well. I definitely don't want to change the woofers since I really like the sound and don't have signs of wearing. The tweeters though sound pretty harsh and I don't like them, I'm not sure if it's how they're supposed to sound or if it's due to the bad crossover caps (old electrolytics). Visually they don't seem damaged but I just tried measuring their DC resistance out of circuit and it measures 2,4 ohm, I guess it should be around 5-6 ohms, right? Should I replace them? What would be a correct replacement (don't want to change the crossover, especially since I already ordered replacement caps)?

Welcome to AK, Stefano.

Let's not put the cart before the horse. Hold off on any modifications to the Advents until you replace the caps. That simple replacement may cure all their ills.

By the way, take time to read at least some of the Advent restoration threads here on AK. They will completely prepare you for the restoration process while helping you to avoid any needless mistakes.

Thanks for the suggestion, that's definitely the best thing to do for now. Will read some threads for sure while waiting for the caps.
By the way I measured the other tweeter and it reads 0 ohms, while both woofers are 5.4ohms.
Will keep you updated after the recapping.

Well, the woofer numbers are good, but those tweeter numbers indicate that they are in a poor, if not DEAD, state, huh? But you can still hear both of them, as indicated in your first post?

Yes they both sound, surprisingly. They just sound harsh and a bit distorted.

EDIT: they actually both measure around 2ohms, not sure why my meter was saying 0 ohms earlier
