Hi all, been a while. I happened across an affordable pair of 5002’s and finished my refoam the other day. The tweeters had dents in them and my OCD couldn’t get past the tiny dimples left over from the “tape trick”. Should have just let it be. Anyways, without doing ANY research like an impatient idiot, I said to myself “oh look four inner screws on the dome casing. I bet that’s how people repair the tweeter cap.”
I stupidly took it apart and the thin little voice coil wires separated from the dome/cap panel contacts(see pictured).
Just wondering if by some miracle this tweeter can be salvaged(are voice coil replacements? Or is there a way of repairing what I’ve done?) or if there’s any reputable sellers of the original or reissue 5002/5012 tweeters. I see simply speakers was one of the only trusted sources for a while but it looks like those have been discontinued/SO? Tried my best to research this but came up empty on concrete options. All the previous recommendations for replacements seem to be disc. And I couldn’t find anything on tweeter voice coil repair.
I’m so upset with myself...Please let me know if there’s anything I can do.
