Advent 5002 Grill Cloth Replacement - How?

I’m seeking advice on how to replace the grill cloth on a pair of Advent 5002’s. The grill frames are in good shape, but the cloth is stained with paint, and there are holes that can’t be repaired. I can’t figure out how to disassemble the frames to replace the cloth. Has anyone done this? Thanks!

Post a pic of the frames - not sure what you mean by disassmbling the frames - removing the old grill cloth you mean?

looks like the beige plastic will come off the black plastic frame and then you can recover the black frame and reassemble. Need to find what is holding those two together. A putty knife to see if it will go between then on the back is where I would start. Don't know if you would need to continue around the inside of the beige on the front. Wouldn't expect so.

Thanks. I tried to gently pry up the beige plastic, but it seemed like it didn't want to budge. I didn't want to crack or damage it, so I was hoping someone on AK had already figured it out and could pass on some insight.

I would feel around the frame with the putty knife to find where it was not loose and determine what was there, glue, sonic weld or whatever. Gotta move forward to determine which way to go so I'll just wait until someone pops in and answers your question from personal experience. Good luck with the project.

I agree with your recommendation to pry a bit harder and move around the frame to determine the points where it's connected to the outer frame. I'll give it another look tonight. I tend to be over-cautious with things; especially in this case because replacement grills are not readily available or in my budget. I only spent $10 on the pair of 5002's and I'm trying to determine if it makes sense to restore a fairly rough pair.
