Advent fest

Just finished replacing the surrounds on a couple pairs of Advent speakers:
1. Original Large Advents
2. Advent /1s

I was a little nervous about doing it, but things went pretty smoothly. I am very happy with the results. I bought the surrounds from Simply Speakers and really appreciate their how to videos.

I have one more set to complete, a pair of bullnose New Large Advents.

Nice.

If you plan on stacking them, it is common to have the top pair up-side-down so that the tweeters are close together for the top and bottom speakers.

Thanks RTally, I just stacked them for the space.
I have the smaller speakers hooked up to the HK 430 and the OLAs hooked up to the Kenwood KR-7600.

Since you have a second amp, you should try running them stacked. Advents are supposed to have a synergy when played stacked. I never tried it when I had two pairs.

Before I work on my last set of Advents, I cleaned up this recently acquired pair of RS Nova 7-Bs.

Super clean and sound great!

Do those Bullnose have their original capacitors? Very easy to replace in the NLA's, maybe the A/1's also. Ditto RTally on the cabinets.

Yes, all three pairs are original. I am very happy with the cabinets. I have not hooked them up yet due to space. I will probably clean up the cabinets on the OLAs and A/1s this weekend. They are in equally good shape.

Listening to the OLAs and A/1s, the A/1s were much brighter than the OLAs which were set to normal.

I always like the 1's better than the OLA...just something about them. To me they sound richer...they're probably more efficient.
Enjoy, nice collection you have there.

I have used my stacked original Advents with both speakers upright for many years. I think they sound better that way. It seems there is less interference between the two tweeters that way, theory be damned. Plus, if you happen to stand up, you can still hear the highs.
