Advent Large Speakers (Restored)

This pair was really beat up when i got them.I should have documented the restoration process. Anyhow, I refinished the cabinets, refoamed the drivers,fresh caps in the crossovers,and reupholstered the grilles in this JBL burnt orange color way. They look & sound great. I can now see why some people like to stack these speakers.

I hope you enjoy the photo. I just wanted to share before I hand these over to a friend.

Using the original, or close to it grill cloth would just be another restoration. Going with Burnt Orange made them stand out! Nice choice.

Thanks! JBL burnt orange is one of my favorite colors. I've done a handful of others speakers using this fabric. Unfortunately,I won't be keeping these since i just don't have the space. I think,i have 12 sets of JBL's and half a dozen of other speakers including a pair of advents in box. This site will do that to you!

I could give the treatment to a set of KLH Fives that I have in the queue to be refurb'd. Hmm.... The possibilities.

Huntley Audio, Huntley Il. They have all JBL colors. The weave is damn near perfect to the OEM material. They will send free samples to interested parties.

As all others have stated, the grill color is very nice. It somewhat depends on the decor in the room but earth tones generally work well, especially with walnut or another dark stained wood. You got me thinking...

This brings back memories for me because my first 'real' set of speakers were a pair of the original Advents back in the 70's.
