Advent re-foam gone bad

Well, my new woofer surround arrived this morning and this time I used a tone generator to mount the foam, using Aleene's Quick Dry Tacky Glue.

All is well, my friends. The bass drivers sound delicious -- and in stereo, it's really quite synergistic.

Gonna live with my new/old Original Advents and see how they sound. Already, they seem very much more forward than my KLH Sixes. Kind of a brash high end. But the speakers are finally in balance and singing as they were designed to.

Using a tone is a really great way to center the coil. It also avoids cutting the dust cap which may be important, depending on collectability/availability of new. The OLA masonite woofers are forgiving enough that I've surrounded them by hand without a tone or a shim. They are easy to center in the gap. Glad it all worked out for the OP. If you haven't yet, replace the grill cloth, it may take some of that shrill out of the tweeter.
 
Congrats! Enjoy that bass. OLA's were the first speakers I did a rehab job on. They are awesome. never tried stacking but I have to say if I ever come across another pair....look out!
