found a pair of Advent Heritage speakers and a pair of Graduate Advents for 200.00 , They look good guy said the Heritage were re-foamed. I did notice the woofers on the Heritage were discolored almost like bleached out. He told me they all sound good, going to check them out tomorrow. Any thoughts! Thanks

Listen to them if possible. Make sure drivers working without distortion. Take some CDs or records your familiar with to audition. Bleached out cone might be from sun? If don't look good, pass up. A lot of Advents were built, and shouldn't be hard to find.
Not familiar with those models. I have NLAs and Ones.
Good luck.

Heritage are great speakers. Not sure about the bleached out woofers. A re-cap with some quality parts turns them into even better speakers. If they function well - all drivers work and no damage to cabinets it sounds like a very fair deal to me.

Picked them up, they really do sound good,so do the Graduates  NO idea why the cones look like that, oh well cant see them with the grills on.

Hit them with a vacuum first and a soft bristle brush to loosen the funk. Then wipe with a damp cloth with isopropyl alcohol.

I wonder who ever refoamed them used some type of chemical to clean off the old foam that bleached out the cone? It almost looks wipe marks around the parts of the cone that are still dark.

Pick one pair to start with and either Google or look at AK for a schematic. OR you can remove a woofer (careful with that screwdriver!) and read the values on the capacitors. Unless the rear input panel comes off from the outside, in which case you can remove it directly instead of going through the woofer hole.

A good basic cap is the Dayton metallized polyprop from Parts Express. Or Solen from other vendors I think, basically the same cap. Lots of cap threads here, and you can go crazy spending $ on boutique caps.

Do you have a multimeter and a soldering iron? Might be good to check any resistors in there for accuracy and replace if more than 10% off spec.
