Advent U3 VS Reaistic Nova 7B

I have an opportunity to buy a pair of Advent U3 speakers in good condition with a re foam. I love my Nova 7b's. In fact i really enjoy all my realistic nova and optimus speakers i have. I favour my 7b's and optimus 5b's. I like that they are air suspension speakers and sound amazing in my listening area. Bass is deep and tight and hi's and mid's are right where i like them.
My question is; would you categorize my realistic speakers as east coast sound and how do they compare to the Advents? Please dont give me the typical rat shack garbage comments, these speakers i am referring to are a highly regarded speaker among Tandy enthusiasts. However ive been hearing really good things about The Advent Loudspeaker Co and am hoping someone who has heard/owned both of these to chime in.

I switch between a Marantz 4240, Yamaha CA 610 II and a Realistic Sta 2500 and listen to every kind of music

If one has to categorize I would say they are closer to east than west.I have a set of Nova 8 and have had about three sets of Advents so I do have some experience with these. The Advents were quite good to their price point but can be easily moved out if you start looking. The Novas I have I found in initial listening I like them.I had to put them aside but I liked them enough to say"these definately deserve more listening time".Enough so that I would probably prefer the Novas over the Advents.

I have enjoyed my Optimus-1 and Optimus 2-b speakers for a while, very nice sounding speakers. I find them to be of the "east coast sound" ilk. The 2b's are close to KLH 17s in sound and the Optimus-1s are a dead ringer for a KLH six sonically. The only Advents I have owned (still own actually) are the Advent/3. They are great sounding speakers for their size, sound better than they should in reality, if not a tiny bit tiring on the top end. The Optimus-1 is more "mellow" on the top end in my opinion, and that is ok sometimes. All of them are keepers in my book.

I also owned a pair of the Realistic Mach One (4024) speakers at one time. They sounded decent, but a bit bass heavy to me. Also the horn speakers were a bit too "honky" sounding to my tastes, even after recapping the crossovers (which did make a big improvement in itself). I parted ways with them some time ago. Just couldn't see what all the fuss about them was. I preferred the Optimus-1 to them.

I think you'll enjoy the vintage Advent experience a lot if you like the Optimus and Nova speakers. Another to look for in the "east coast" ilk is vintage KLH (seventeen, twenty, twenty-two, twenty-four, six) speakers. And if you can afford them, vintage AR speakers are great too, if not a bit expensive these days (depending on which model you go for of course) ;)
