Advent Woofer Question

Hello, I recently acquired a pair of original large advent loudspeakers with 2 after-market woofers installed. I have looked on ebay, but I cannot seem to find the original masonite woofers for a good price. I am wondering if I could put new advent woofers in the current cabinets. Please if you experience with advent stuff will you tell me if the woofer would fit properly and hopefully not change the sonic characteristics too much from the original woofers.

@jimmy68 Advent used the New Advent woofers as drop in replacements for the originals after the masonite woofers were no longer produced.

And they're much cheaper. I've seen people trying to sell just the original woofers for the price of a perfect pair of speakers.

When you get them and if they still have the original thin gaskets with them, use rope caulk like Mortite instead to seal the woofers to the speaker board. The thin gaskets were fine when the New Advents were manufactured new but irregularities in the metal frame and speaker board surface can render them insufficient to seal properly.

2 strips wide fits like a glove. Then when you re - seat the woofer and torque the screws it spreads out perfectly to the edge of the basket. And same color as the glue holding the screen over the tweeter.
