Advice and or tips.

I have a Harmon Kardon hk3480 and a marantz 1060 that I have hooked to each other. I'm using the hk for a preamp for the 1060. This is my first time using a separate system. All seems to be working fine I was wondering if there is anything else I should know or do or be aware of when using such a combo. The 3480 isn't going to fry the 1060 or anything I hope. Kind of a newb/dumb question I know. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Don't really know much about the HK, but not sure you want to use it as a pre-amp over the Marantz. The 1060 is regarded as a pretty sweet sounding amp. My suggestion to you would be to go the other way around, using the Marantz as pre and your HK as your amp. My guess is that HK has more power than the Marantz anyway. What speakers are you using? Chances are if your Marantz is driving them well right now you don't need the HK at all, and in fact it will probably sound much better if you don't use it in the mix. Just some thoughts, but if you can give us more information that would be great.

What Tmac said.

Like so many others here, I have a 1060 and regard it highly, so unless yours has a fault in the pre section, I would use it as is and leave the HK out of the mix. Just my 2 cents (Aus) worth and it's worth less now.:D

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm going to separate the two children. Get me another pair of speakers for the 1060 and use it as a its own system. I was driving a pair of modern sony ssb1000 small monitors with 5.25 inch woofers at 120 watts into 8 ohms(Yeah I know sony but they sound really good to me). I'm going to probably find a vintage pair of bookshelves like baby advents for the 1060. And yes. The 1060 is awesome sounding. Just me playing around with stuff seeing what can be down and tweaking and such. Thanks again guys for the advice.
