Phasetech.......

Howdy,
I have the 645ES, 3-way towers, Very excellent speakers, NOT a rock
speaker, but for vocals, jazz, classical, Very nice....enjoy, Cheers, T:music:
I paid 13.$ at GW, for mine, needed nothing but some scratches fixed......

Hi Firefall,

I'm not familiar with the models that you are referring too, but I own the Phase Technology 11.5 Teatro tower speakers. I feel that they are excellent speakers for the money. For some reason they don't seem to get a lot of press. Mine are shielded and have built in active subwoofers with variable output. I've used them for home theater use for about ten years and they have performed flawlessly. Just recently I have been using them just for music and once I readusted the output of the subwoofers for better integration, I was pleasantly impressed. They are detailed but with warmth, not bright at all. They are very efficient, about 91db/8ohms if I remember correctly. They also provide a large sweet spot for listening.

Although I haven't listened to the rest of the line, I have heard others say they are all great speakers for the money.

Good luck,

Don

hi don,

both models are 4 ohms and acoustic suspension. pc 800 ho is a floor standing with a 1" tweeter, 5.25" midrange and a 10" woofer and the 530 es is a bookshelf speaker with a 1' tweeter and a 10" woofer...although it's made here is the u.s. i have a feeling they were marketed in europe.

thanks!

I just picked up a set of PC 8.5's and one of the mids was not working. I pulled the woofer to expose the complicated crossover and noticed some oxidation on one of the terminals that connects the positive side to the mid driver. After a little cleaning and deoxit the mid came back and the speakers are singing proudly. I would try to isolate the problem and check the mid to see if it is functional. If it reads open you will need to repace the mid. You might get lucky like I did and clean up the terminals. Check all the capacitors for any sign of leakage and all the speaker wire connections on the crossover for any signs of heat or oxidation.

Good Luck, I am totally impressed with the PC 8.5's.

by the looks of it...mid needs to be replaced since it also requires a new surrounds. thanks for your help and enjoy your 8.5's! ff

my uncle uses a pair of phase tech center channels for his main speakers very nice sounding on the lead shot filled stands he uses.
Phase tech is known for there piston type woofers very solid sounding drivers.
