Advice on a/d/s/ CM7 project..?

I am (reversibly, mostly) modifying a pair of a/d/s/ (ADS / Braun) CM7’s & I’m feeling a bit baffled about the baffles. The project goal is to tri-amp via Deqx preamp/processor with n-core monoblock tri-amplifiers. My main concern on CM series is the flanges on top & bottom as part of grill assembly. I would think they would create diffraction issues, but cannot imagine the engineering folks would have allowed a “form over function” decision to make its way into production.
I’ve acquired a spare set of baffles to remove flanges while retaining ability to put them (mostly) back to stock configuration. Any thoughts or wisdom on this would be greatly appreciated.

The CM series utilized a composite material 2-piece cabinet: the box with drivers mounted to bolt on baffle. To your question, no, waveguide (as I understand them). image.jpg
