Advice on Acoustat Spectra 11

They look nice. What does the seller say?
They would be a local pickup, right? Both of you in Oslo. (Been there-- I have many first cousins, once removed, in Norge.)

Hi Pete!

The seller says something like:
- speaker elements are 100% OK.
- the control electronics for one of the speakers doesn't work
- probably a broken connection

The highest bid hasn't moved since yesterday. I am still weighing pros (great sounding, high 'cool' factor) and cons (wife. repair job, odd size).

The repair job is made easier by having one working speaker.

Oh well, choices, choices....

Darn! The speakers slipped out of my hands. They went for approx USD 200. I wasn't able to follow the end of the auction. My loving wife reminded me that I currently don't have any funds for personal discretionary spending on yet another speaker project. I had hoped to pass these below her 'radar' - admittedly a tough job with 7' tall speakers.

Cheers,

- Harald

They indeed sound very good. The Bass is alittle thin yet there is a mod that can be done. If you require alot of bass.

The mids are excellent and the highs are quite good.

They will require some power as they can heat up a 100w/pc amp pretty quick.

For Classical Music they do the job quite well.

Especially, with a SACD Player.

They sound really great overall with a TT. Kind of like the old days on FM radio.

Sorry you missed them. They are quite easy to take apart and be moved.

The price was outstanding with one not working. Even if some bird flipped her drink on to the ribbon. Sometimes, such is the case.

Anyway, thanks for the post and I'm sorry you missed them. I personally think for the money they are one of the "Best" hybrids around.

Thanks again,

Cheers,

PF
