Aerial 10t bases w/ B&W 705 uppers - Mismatched, Advise Needed

What else would it be!?!

It's still not real bi-amping.

Pitch forks and torches to the Pioneer marketing department shall we!

To use separate power amps, whats the best way to split the signal and send it to two power amps? I have a turntable, cd player, tape deck, and live music mixer, and TV as sources.

F1nut, Im using a Pioneer VSX-50 AVR. They have what they call a bi-amp mode which supports two sets of cables for the fronts and a configurable crossover. Maybe its not real bi-amping since I assume its the same power amp unless there is more than one in the device. Perhaps its just a separate preamp stage more than anything else. None the less it sounds way better than running them in parallel on the same stereo power amp out. I think the crossover helps a lot.

I was unable to find any test results for your AVR. Pioneer states 90wpc x 7, which is highly unlikely. Generally, the manufacturers publish their wpc rating with only 2 channels driven because when more channels are used it results in a dramatic drop in wpc and that dirty little secret doesn't look good to the consumer. For the sake of argument let's say your AVR is capable of 90wpc with 4 channels driven. So, you have 90 watts to the top and 90 to the bottom. The top will only use 5 to maybe 10 watts of that 90, the rest is wasted. Therefore, the bottom is possibly gaining 5 to 10 watts by ghetto bi-amping, which is nothing especially since every channel is sucking off the same power supply.

The crossover setting is for use with a subwoofer. It limits the frequencies sent to speakers to above whatever you set it to, in your case that appears to be 80Hz.

Your AVR does not have pre-outs (except for a sub) therefore you cannot connect it to a power amp.
