Affordable RCA connector cable brand and source?

I have in use 2 sets of these. I highly recommend them as they proved to be a noticable step up from standard RCA cables. They come in a variety of lengths, and for their quality of construction are very affordable.

FosPower (6 Feet) 2 RCA M/M Stereo Audio Cable [24K Gold Plated | Copper Core] 2RCA Male to 2RCA Male [Left / Right] Premium Sound Quality Plug https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016QVZEZM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_5d.zybESX47ZW

I'll second the Fosp's . I tried these after Reydelaplaya recommended them.

I'm using Tributaries Delta series which I've found on eBay for that price and less. Very nice cables IMO.

Really? that may be the best suggestion yet; don't Tributaries make the McIntosh branded cables? I'm sure they're the higher end ones, but still - Mc may be pricey and sometimes snobby but they impress me as a company whose engineering dept. doesn't put up with too much snake oil. I will have to remember this if I ever need any cables and they don't have to be roll-your-owns (as most of the ones I don't currently have will have to be due to tiny RCA spacings mentioned previously)

Earlier, someone advised check out thrift stores. A found five or so nice Belkin rca cables for under $10. Belkin makes industial cables and connectors. So I figure they have the know-how.

G'day Mate!

Santa brought me this on his travels, which I am listening to powered by the sun (another one of your recommendations).

And yeah there's a set of FOSPs giving a nice clean path for those photon induced electrons between the Dual and the Yamaha.

Awesome, dude! I've just pulled that album up on Amazon Prime for a listen.

So you installed some solar? That's even more awesome!!! Not to derail the thread, but did you go completely off-grid?

It's on page 8 of the solar thread in the Back Alley Pub thread. Jeez mate, you're losing that memory of yours in your advancing years........

Anyhoo, keeping this thread on track. FOSP

Have to watch those thrift store cables. Bought a 10 or 12 ft audio patch cable, nice big thick wire with gold plated connectors. One side was open. Probed it with a needle and the DMM, found the open spot about mid point. Cut it open and real surprised at what I saw (or didn't see). There were 4 or 5 strands of super fine stiff copper looking wire in the center, like strands of hair, and maybe 8 or so around the core as shielding, just randomly placed. Cables looked great on the outside, total cheap crap on the inside.

True. Rule of thumb with thrift store cables, stick to brands you know. Had same experience at my local Goodwill, they apparently got a big lot of surplus audio cables that looked pretty good and were long, I needed a long cable, bought two pair and tried them. They were fairly thick and limp, felt like that white Monster speaker cable. Tons of interference, cut one open and found pretty much what you describe, the center conductor wasn't too bad but the shielding was pretty pathetic. I binned them immediately and bought a long Mogami cable for where I needed it and never looked back.

Now if it'd been a name brand used video cable, it probably would have been fine...

Yep, and if you're patient and you can eventually get a coupon code that will make them an even better deal. Here's a thread in Dollars & Sense from a few years back where I got 15 of the Monoprice RCA interconnects in various lengths for $37, including shipping.

I go to the county landfill weekly. One Saturday, I was going to go to the dump, then the 25 miles to the closest town big enough to have a source of RCA's. While at the dump, I had the bright idea to check out the area where all the junk TV's, computers, etc, get piled up. Found RCA cables...too short for what I needed, but I now make a point of checking every trip, and score something worthwhile regularly. Plus, I just like spending time at the dump. Did you know that you can get buzzards to eat out of your hands just like pigeons?

Here we have local recycling depots where you can drop off electronics. I always see cables in the bins with stereos, etc.

Hosa are my "entry level/budget choice" cables.

Reasonably pirced & well constructed, plus one can find them most everywhere cables are sold (Amazon et-al).
