With the NFL lockout over, teams on practice fields, and the first preseason games starting quite soon I've been looking into ways to watch the games from here (Hong Kong), where NFL isn't a big thing, and only limited games are shown on just a few broadband channels.
I ran across this site, which claims to let people watch virtually all NFL games (and more, like the Canadian league games) for a very cheap price:
http://www.watchlivenfl.com/
On reading the FAQ on the site, I found this:
Is your site legal?
Yes, of course. At www.watchlivenfl.com we do not streaming any NFL football games directly on our website. We also do not provide customers with links to download any programs or video content from illegal sites. Instead, we provide are service that allows you to find the latest and most reliabgle streaming NFL feeds online. These streams will provide you with a number of american football games to choose from covering the NFL, NCAA, CFL and Australian Rules football.
I'm a little leery of this; aside from the non-native English (which isn't necessarily important at all), it's unclear to me whether they're actually allowing you to watch the games, or just telling you where to go and find the games... and if the latter, does your fee entitle you to watch them (Other posts and testimonials seem to imply that they do), or do you have to pay fees at other sites this one directs you to?
Is this a scam? Legitimate? Does it work? Anyone here know?
The official NFL site wants about US$300 to let me watch the whole season. That's a lot of money! This site costs $12.95 per year. I'm skeptical of things that seem "too cheap to be true," but then again, some kind of re-direct site that didn't produce content, etc... would be a lot cheaper. But the poor English makes me a bit nervous, too.
What gives? Has anyone used this site? Should I pay up and expect to be able to watch Green Bay trounce Cleveland next week, or save my money from a possible scam and pay the massive over-charge of the NFL official site?
Any advice is appreciated.
