I wanted to stop in, and say hello. I am a little on the gray side (ok what's left is mostly gray), and spent a lot of my youth listening to albums (mostly 70's rock) in my spare time. The 70's became the 80's, which melded into the 90's and CD's came out. I gave away my old Pioneer PL-705.. and haven't played anything vinyl since then.
Recently, my nephew was checking out my old albums, and clued me in on the reawakening of vinyl. So I bought a used Pioneer PL-7 ($20 on CL) and a new cartridge/stylus. Not knowing about the previous owner(s), or the usage of the TT, I figured I should clean and lube it before attempting to convert my analog youth into digital. A search online for that info, brought me here.
I've read quite a few threads, but because I have no real practical smarts on today's TT's and their equipment.. I'm just a reader.
Thanks for your time!
