Ahh...Sweet karma today

Kico

Here's lookin' at you kid
Picked this up today from a CL ad--absolutely beautiful condition with extras. Has an AT cart installed-don't know the model yet, but looks like maybe an AT-15s or Sa. Also included was a brand new Clearaudio cart/headshell and an Ortofon headshell.

I'll have to do some more research on the Clearaudio:scratch2:--know nothing about them other than the name. It looks close to this one though...

I know, I know...you all want to know "How Much?" :D

$50...and no, that's not a typo or BS.

he Shoots.....He Scores. Nice pick up, should make you happy especially at that price. Enjoy Chuck

I love my 838! Very nice catch on that one. Check the condition of the rubber in the feet; it tends to dry out and crumble, making the 'table very sensitive to any kind of movement around it.

Heck, just the AT-15 would be a score at that price, except that NOS styli are almost unobtanium, at least for the Shibata variants, although ellipticals might still be out in the wild and are quite respectable also.

Kico scores again, lost track of how many times Kico has hit the jackpot with desirable vintage tables from CL, garage sales, flea markets for peanuts. Another AK member who lives in FL recently said he never sees any good turntables for sale on CL, he must of been looking at the wrong time in all the wrong places.

Hey Rich,

Good to see you here again...hope all is well with you.

This was a nice find and a surprise to me that it was still available. Of course, it helped that he listed it late last nite. I saw it at 5:30AM this morning--I immediately sent an email plus a call and left a message. Even with that, I thought it was probably already gone. He called me back at 8:30AM; the rest is history.

He never mentioned the extras until I arrived; what a nice additional surprise! The new Clearaudio cart sounds very good and I expect it to get better after it gets some break-in time on the "black plastic". I also see they're not exactly cheap either...$250 on Amazon.

BTW, the cart on the table is an AT-15Sa with the stylus being in excellent condition.

All-in-all a very good day I would say.

I always thought you gave out Karma and got back Vipaka but no matter that is one nice TT :D enjoy.

The Samyutta Nikaya states:

"According to the seed that’s sown,
So is the fruit you reap therefrom,
Doer of good will gather good,
Doer of evil, evil reaps,
Down is the seed and thou shalt taste the fruit thereof."

rubber mat bad mojo

Kico,

In your 3rd image, I see a rubber mat under the sansui. It looks like some I used between a speaker and another surface to prevent scratching, but in humid weather, the cheap rubber broke down, and stained the cabinet wood. It is impossible to get off. I think it is meant for lining shelves for glasses to sit on. Cheap and cheerful, for its intended use, but with a heavy weight and humidity, it is grief.

If what I see is the same, do not leave it in place.
This has been you karma update for today.

Scarberian,

Thanks for the heads up, but it was a bamboo place mat and the table was only on it for a few minutes while I took the pics.

You are absolutely correct about the rubber though. A few years back I used Vibrapods under a Sansui integrated and they left terrible stains and black marks...the GF was ready to boot both me and my hobby to the curb...lesson learned :D
