Ok a weird title for my first, non lurking post, but what the heck.
I have spent some time going through the forums here and the memories are flooding back like a warm breeze. As you may have guessed I am a tad older than most, I grew up in the "Love" decade and spent some time defending the home fronts in the 70's and rebelled during the disco years. Man I could not dance.
Anyway, I really really miss the old gear everyone is talking about and I am not sure what has changed of late, my hearing or the equipment. I remember the day when I had a big ole Yamaha receiver and a pair of Genesis Physics speakers fronted by a Dual turntable and Stanton cart. The sound just sucked me in. Even before that I had brought home Sansui and Kenwood from overseas and it was awesome.
Big old wood cabinets with nice detail work, and while the sound on some of them was not cutting edge, they rocked.
I don't seem to get quite as involved with the newer equipment and am longing to get back to where I was, if indeed that is possible. Again, maybe it is just me, but I do not get the same enjoyment I once did. I dunno, maybe things are too complicated with all the channels etc. I was always used to 2.
A Short Introduction
Originally from Chicago, moved to Savannah, yeah big difference. I have seen all the big groups and most of the not so big. Had a blast doing so. I cant take the crowds anymore, tired of getting puked on I spose.
Favorite Music: Beatles, Pink Floyd, Elvis, Yes, you get the idea. I play a bit of guitar, still have a tubed Marshall. I have a good amount of vinyl although most listening these days is done through a wireless server and a tubed DAC.
I want to Thank everyone for such wonderful posts, pictures and memories and if y'all dont mind, I would like to hang out, learn a thing or 3 and go retro soonest.
