Airline incompetence...

I used to fly on business. A lot. Whether it's weather, mechanical problems, flight crew no-shows, or (now) security issues, there's only one way to keep your sanity, and your cool, and that's to calmly tell yourself...

This, too, shall pass.

And then head to the nearest airport bar for some bigscreen tv and refreshments. Dealing with another stupid delay is easier when you're sharing a cold one with a new friend, and bitching about high paid athletes.

Well, all you shoe-gripers take heart, EVERYONE has to take off their shoes in all US airports these days. I like it- at least it's consistent from one to another, which it certainly wasn't before.

Yeah, but I've heard those cavity checks they make you go thru in Europe are hell. :D But maybe they'll be "consistent" for you.

I was bitching about this to one of the guys whose sister was either 1) The oldest stewardess in the US, or 2) had the most seniority of any stewardess. Wall Street Journal did an article on her several years back. Think she started w/Capital Airlines in 1948-49. Anyhow, he just kinda grinned & said, "Yeah, a lot of "weather" & "mechanical" troubles mysteriously go away when the plane gets full of paying passengers...Amazin', ain't it ?!?
