Hello my deck aiwa ad-6900 have problem..
Noise like crackling buzz etc..
Deck worked some time and start doing this sounds even when i dont play tape in background vu metres sometimes jumps...

Rec path when i play rca input music its much better.. when i dont play i can hear in silent background.. crackling buzzz...

There is video link... i play test tape like 1khz test tone
But when i play music its just music+crackles buzz poping sound...

Deck is like recaped 80% new caps
Pots switches clean..!!!

I Looked some transistors in playback path with tester all tested good... no leakage hfe is good etc...

then i use cold ice spray -50 celsius to test on transistors to make run them cooler ,but nothing changed in deck sound same crackles buzz etc..

i have check almost everything..

when i used oscilloscope to check signal in deck ,that signal is distorted like when i put probe at almost all places in decks pcb signal looks distorted like ground is not stable and scope takes bad readings
(i am new to scope)
i see in scope all cracklings buzz...
signal i traced in pcb from decks (start to finish) from playback path to rca out its was bad...

I checked pcb ground + chasis resistance is good... like 0.2ohms
(pcb + chasis ground in this deck is same connected(tied)

All caps i am looked twice if correct placed in pcb .. wiggled to see sound changes (same)
All joints in decks pcb i have resoldered ..soo... maybe some advice from you group..

maybe noisy transistor even good transistor can be noisy.. but in my deck both channels are noisy... not same sound some times sound is diffrent from left to right...
its hard deck to work on...
Sorry for my english...

Hi, welcome to AK.
Help me to understand:
  1. When you play a tape, all you hear is the crackling sound. No music, or do you hear music plus crackling?
  2. Do you still hear the crackling if you turn the Output Level volume control all the way down and play a tape?
  3. When you record a tape with no input signal with the record volume turned all the way down, is the crackling sound recorded on the tape or not?
  4. If you play the tape on another tape deck, do you hear the crackling recorded on the tape?
  5. With power on and the tape in STOP, do you hear the crackling?
  6. With the Line and Mic levels turned all the way down, but with the Output Level turn up, put it in REC/Pause. Do you hear the crackling?
  7. If you put the deck in REC, and listen to the output, do you hear a difference when you toggle the MONITOR switch from TAPE to SOURCE?
Let me know what you find out.
