Aiyima A07 Review

I've had my Aiyima A07 for 2 solid years of enjoyable listening and decided to build a custom minimalist case for it and replace the restored Onkyo A8017 in my daily living room rig. Frankly, the A07 can hold its own and takes up very little space.

I designed it so I can easily swap out amp boards if I'd like, or add the power supply internally, but so far the exceptional sound and dead silent noise from the 36V 5A SMPS is superb.....

I will be machining a billet rear panel that has hidden attachment hardware too. I set out to have an absolute minimalist look and function. I'll post pics of the integrated dial when done... It reminds me of my favorite watch

I Tested the unit out for an entire weekend hooked up to the 2.5 Way Custom shop speakers at 3/4 max Volume and It barely got warm. I could feel the air ducts' heat convection with the laminar flow doing a great job without even hooking up the fan....

Fine tuning the dial interface/fitment. A couple thousandths each side is the key to smooth-as-butter operation

Thank you for the kudos. The 3255 chips are hidden gems when implemented properly.

Been running the XS-8TL's with this amp for better part of the last week with my phone DAC and FLAC files.
Barely gets warm running them half volume on the dial.

I took the dial back off and reset it to 6'oclock being zero.

WAF is at 100% too as opposed to the amp and CD player in the living room.

Here's a pic where I removed the fan so you can see direct airflow path to heatsink radiator.
I also added 3/8" height rubber feet

Ran my billet 3255 amp all day yesterday and still this morning, hooked up to the modded CX100's and the Polk RM-1000 passive subwoofer in the bedroom... Amp case finally started getting warm after 6 hr's playtime 3/4 volume....

Wow, I have to say that's incredible work - not only is it a great heat sink but the aesthetics are wonderful as well. Super neat, well done.

Hopefully Aiyima will release their next 3255 chip based amp with PFFB, so I can make the next one.

Color me impressed. More detail and separation of vocals/instruments with these little jewels...Is there a break-in time with those opamps? Hard to believe it get any better...

I somehow ended up with four AIYIMA A07s and am trying to figure out if the concerns about sound quality with 48volt power supplies are only at high volume or if this applies to low to mid volume? I like the idea of more headroom for transients when playing at lower volumes. Also wondering about the Meanwell supplies if it would be worth adjusting the voltage down closer to 40volts? The following is my list of power supplies.

Mean Well SP-500-48 Power Supply | In: 100-240VAC 50/60Hz Out: 48VAC @10A
MEAN WELL DRP-240-48 Power Supply In: 100-240VAC 50/60Hz Out: 48VAC @5A
FOSI 48V 5Amp (not GaN) power supply

With an isolation transformer on the SDA circuit, this amp runs even cooler at very loud levels....
The details coming forth are even better, along with the huge SDA sound stage...

The XS-A07 got a new sibling for the desktop rig... A04 in an XS amp case....

I just replaced my old amp on my desk with a Aiyima A07. Geez this little guy sounds great. Very impressed.

These two work very well together.

How Did using a tube preamp change the sound of your Aiyima? Im thinking about adding a tube preamp but the amp is so powerful? I can only listen to it at level 2.
