AK 24th Anniversary Giveaway Thread

I'm enjoying seeing so many of The Old Guard still standing. Time works against us in that endeavour.

I was late to the party. First came here in late 2002 after member Bully posted a link to AK at the bottom of a post on Audio Asylum. Lurker for 10 months before deciding to join on 21st September 2003. I still kick myself that I waited so long. The motivating factor to joining was the purchase of a Yamaha C2x and the desire to show off my new gem and glean some information on it.

My 10 months(every day) of lurking had me fairly familiar with the multiple hundreds of then members. Compared to Audio Asylum at the time, which was akin to an Asylum not just in name, AK was sane civil and a pool of knowledgeble members. Due again to holding out for 10 months I fell outside the first 1000 members. But not by much. My membership number is 1167. I wished for a long time that I had been amongst the first 1000 but now I cherish that membership number.

I literally did not ever surf the internet before Dec 2002. So my exposure to the internet(and computers) went hand in hand with visiting audio websites. I'm a lot more internet surfing savvy now. Heck, I can even link photos to a webpage. What a computer genius I am. :rflmao:

I post at about 12 Audio sites. On more than half of those I'd be lucky to have cracked triple figures in postings. I save my infliction of bad taste and dubious insight for the to be pitied administration and members of this site. I've had the pleasure of passing 20,000 posts twice before(due to deleting a shedload of posts) and another mass deletion this year sees me going for 20,000 again. I guess I must really have some attraction to rounding that marker.

I have literally defied death, survived against the overwhelming odds of not making it, multiple times in my life. Remarkably with zero long term deficits or disabilities. Touch wood. September 2022 was the biggest episode of my past 35 years. Brought home to me in the aftermath when the head of the Infectious Diseases Dept basically told me in other words how she had no idea how I was still alive, let alone back to good health. If the adage the good die young holds true, I fit the opposite side of the equation. I say that neither GOD nor The Devil wanted me and that's why I'm still here inflicting misery upon the world.

I hand on heart love this site. I've been on here every day since Dec 2002. Posting since Sept 2003. Still around to rankle, stir the pot and get under everybody's skin. You know. Like that relative you dread seeing every Christmas( Dear GOD. When will this pr*ck die?). Thanks to the mods who barely tolerate me. Thanks to the members(who realise that with every passing year my exit grows closer).
